Citizen scientists are increasingly seen as vital for conservation of endangered ecosystems. The Research Centre serves as a popular venue for meetings and workshops for the Plant Specialist Group of Mpumalanga, the Custodians of Rare and Endangered Wildflowers (CREW), Red Data workshops, and organized natural history groups. The plant knowledge and enthusiasm of dedicated members of the public is thereby channeled into preserving and monitoring the country’s rare and endangered plants.
